Final preparations...

In just under three weeks the two expedition’s leaders will leave Ireland ahead of the research team for some preliminary fieldwork in Honduras. The aim of the first week is to gather essential botanical data within the vicinity of Base Camp (Cusuco NP). Multiple trees will be rigged for canopy access and later sampled for epiphytes (and allies) by the climbing team.

The team is currently preparing field guides for species identification, finalizing sampling protocols, arranging equipment transfers, applying for research, collection and export permits and finalizing lectures that will be given at Cusuco NP and the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras.
